http://forums.heorot.net/viewtopic.php?f=21;t=149

pwnOS is a kind of training Ubuntu server image for exploit testing, much like Metasploitable or De-ICE.

There are a couple of vulnerable services that I have discovered so far, one is an out of date Webmin install, the same Debian Weak SSL ciphers used on Metasploitable (slightly annoying :-( ) and a vulnerable Linux kernel.

In the following tutorial I show you how to go from "boot to root" in around 10 - 20 minutes.

Firstly we'll kick of the show with some information gathering; the image is installed on a box on my 10.50.60.0 network, so we'll start with a full /24 scan. followed by a Nessus vulnerability scan of the said image.

Then we look at exploitation, the some privilege escalation and finally poc (proof of concept).

I found this a lot easier that Metasploitable and was able to get root access in around 2 hours, which did annoy me slightly but still hats off to bond00 at http://heorot.net; its a good training exercise.

If you have any questions feel free to comment on http://defensive-attack-formation.net.

This will do a complete Factory Reset for the phone, however S-off remains (meaning you can reinstall recovery utility)

Late last month Sprint sent out the long awaited Gingerbread upgrade for its flagship HTC EVO. Initially the update was only available through Over-The-Air (OTA) Sprint maintenance update, making it difficult for those with rooted Evo's update their phones. Fortunately, Sprint released their Official RUU Rom as an executable allowing us to run the update whether we're rooted or not. Here's is a breakdown of what the RUU fixes/updates:

     - Upgrade to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
     - Google Downloads management
     - Corrects voicemail notification issue (from 4.22.651.2)
     - Corrects issue with hearing aid compatibility menu disappearing (from 4.22.651.2)
     - Corrects Netflix compatibility (from 4.22.651.2)
     - Fixed SMS being sent intermittently wrong and seemingly random contacts
     - Fixed "Me" instead of "Yo" in SMS thread conversations when set to Spanish
     - Fixed Inability to stream media thru some applications after updating to 3.70
     - Fixed Email attachments not displayed in the mail client
     - Fixed syncing for Multiple Gmail accounts
     - Fixed battery discharge issue

In addition to upgrading your Evo to the latest Android platform, the RUU file can be used to restore the your android back to most current Sprint factory settings. So if you want to unroot your phone, or have somehow corrupted the system and are unable to boot up your phone, running this RUU will fix EVERYTHING. You phone will be as if you just walked in and purchased it from Sprint.

Please note this will ERASE EVERYTHING from your phone. So backup any sms, contacts, etc to your sdcard. The sdcard will NOT be erased.

Follow the steps in the video to run this update, find written instructions and troubleshooting below the video.

To perform the upgrade / factory reset / unroot, you will need to do the following:

      1) Downdoad Official Sprint Rom for Evo: RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.24.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.05.02_ NV_2.15_release_199233_signed.exe

     2) Download myHTC driver:

LINK: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27008966/HTC.EVO.Drivers.zip

     3) Uninstall HTC Sync and use the downloaded drivers.

     4) If you get error 155, restart phone into Bootloader (remove battery, press volume down, replace battery and press power), THEN run the RUU file.

     5) If windows does not recognize the phone while in bootloader and says "Android 1.0," rename the file "android_winusb.inf.ANDROID1" (in the drivers folder) to "android_winusb.inf" and it should now install.

This will do a complete Factory Reset for the phone, however S-off remains (meaning you can reinstall recovery utility)

After resetting your phone, you WILL be able to install Amon-RA from bootloader to flash roms, etc.

Added by: nate
Tags: htc, evo, 4G, unroot, sprint, stock, 4.24.651, flash, factory, upgrade, corrupt, fix, android, phone, adb, root, amon-ra, recover, recovery, error, 155, repair, tips, tricks, help, supersonic
Date: 2011-08-18

Instalação do CentOS 6 x86_64 no Hyper-V R2 - @lsantiagos

Instalação do CentOS 6 x86_64 no Hyper-V R2 - @lsantiagos

Added by: nate
Tags: centos, hyper-v, hyperv, linux, microsoft, virtualização, virtualization, cloud, central
Date: 2011-08-12

Install OS X 10.6.4 on Virtualbox (And enable Sound) On Windows 7

Before asking a question check my website FAQ http://iiju.co.uk/mac 10.6.4 is from 2mins30. First go to http://www.simplemachines.org in order to download the latest version of SMF. Click over the "Download" icon and save the zipped file on your hard disk.

Locate the zipped file on your Pc and unzip it.

Now upload all the content from the unzipped folder "simple_rss_xxx" ( where xxx is the number version of the installation) to your server using any FTP client (we use as sample FileZilla but you can use any client ).

Upload all the content as is, don't change / edit any folder nor file. All data must be uploaded on the directory or folder where you plan to run the board, if you plan to install forums on your domain name just upload to "root" - - - "Public_html" ( on a Cpanel based host ). If you plan to install forums on a subdomain or directory as could be "www.mydomain.com/forums" the upload all files and folders to the "forums" directory on your server.

Using your browser go to : www.mydomain.com/install.php (if you are going to install forums directly on the domain name ) or www.mydomain.com/forums/install.php ( if you wish install SMF of the "forums" folder instead the root directory ) and follow on screen instructions as follow:

Enter the name of your community.

On the filed for "Forum URL" check if the default URL automatically generated by the installer is right, if not then correct it ( usually you don't need to edit this field ).

"MySQL Server Settings" :

"MySQL Server Name" : Usually "localhost" .

"MySQL database name" : Enter the required Database name.

"MySQL username" : Enter the required Username to access this Database.

"MySql password" : Enter the required Password for this user.

"MySQL table prefix" : Set up a valid prefix (if you plan to run multiple installations of SMF, if not then just leave the default prefix).

Click "Proceed" in order to continue.

Now it's time to create your account ( the Admin account in order to manage the board ).

Enter the username you wish to use for the Admin.

Enter the password for this user and re-type it on the second field to validate / correct any misspelling.

Enter the email you wish to use for notifications and messages.

"MySQL Database Password" : In order to validate the installation the installer ask for the password you use to access the database on MySQL (not the password for the Admin account on forums ), enter this info and click "Finish".

The installation process is complete!, please note that for your security you must change permissions ( chmod ) the installation directory on your server and delete the "install.php" file, check for "Click here to delete this install.php now" option (it may not work on your server, if so then delete it manually from your Cpanel or via your FTP client).

Go to your forum's url and check for any bug or error....

Feel free to skip sections of the video using the chapter timings below:

0:18 - Installation (Dual boot ; Slideshow)
5:28 - Pre-Installed Software
9:36 - Desktop ; Unity Features (inc Compiz)
12:49 - Installing Software (few apps to try)
14:51 - Conclusion

This video is aimed more for people who are new to Ubuntu, but there is something here for everyone.
I show the Unity 3D Desktop Environment in action on a full system install and cover a verity of topics including:
1: Installation - Dual booting with Windows 7 and using the automated partitioning.
2: Look at Pre-Installed Software Canonical have included on the install disk, including LibreOffice 3.3, Firefox 4, Banshee Media Player, Ubuntu One, Software Centre, Puzzle Games, and a 3D shooter.
3: Fancy Desktop Features - Tutorial on setting up Compiz effects and Coloured Mouse Cursors
4: Installing Software and suggestions of a Few Applications to try: Chromium, Gimp image editor, Inkscape vector graphic, Openshot, Zaz and Sauerbraten.
5: Conclusion 85% - A nice modern desktop environment, very easy to use, but not necessarily for everyones taste. Next version of Ubuntu (11.10) should offer a more customisable version of Unity.
