First look and review of Ubuntu 11.10 Alpha 3 codenamed Oneiric Ocelot. This video is of a full system install and I show you the new features that have been added to Unity 3D. Changes so far: Unity 3D ported across to Gnome 3 Me-Menu removed (Gwibber is still pre-installed) More features added to Shutdown menu More features returned to System Settings New Application selector on Ctrl+Tab New style GTK3 Software Centre Firefox uplifted to Version 6 beta GDM swapped with LightDM Noticeable Bugs: No restart button No autologin Installer requires blank password Unable to delete files in Nautilus Totem Media Player doesn't work More News about Changes coming to Ubuntu 11.10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty1es9StG18 At this stage its for testing only, and not advisable to use it on a production machine. ArtistX 1.1 A Linux Distro based on Ubuntu 11.04 with a huge selection of software of Multimedia, Image, Sound, and Video Editing, HTML, Office and Gaming applications pre-installed. This is only an overview of the system and not a full review. Comes complete with 2500 applications pre-installed, including: Gimp, Inkscape, Blender, K3D, Cinelerra, Openshot, Kdenlive, Audacity, VLC, Banshee, Clementine, plus many more Website: http://www.artistx.org Sadly its a 32bit Kernel only and limits the distro to older computers or systems with less than 4Gb RAM. It can be run as a Live CD or Full Install. Running it as a Live CD gives you a great opportunity to try out a huge selection of applications without installing too much on your own system.
