Troubleshooting and other stuff: Q1: How do I access my site over my LAN? Using my WAN IP doesn't work. A1: This is the one thing I forgot to cover in the video (I didn't realize that until it had finished rendering :S). You cannot access servers over your network by using your network's WAN IP. You will have to use the static LAN IP of your server. Eg, if your server's LAN IP is 192.168.100.155, just use that as the URL. If you still have Listen 80 uncommented and your ISP blocks port 80, you don't need to include :81 just for connecting over LAN. Q2: I have a distro that isn't Arch and.. A2: Stop. I have no experience with running webservers on other distros (as Arch is my dominant distro, and has been for well over a year now), and I am unable to help you. You can use Google for help with other distros. Q3: I have a Windows machine, and I would like to add files to my server without writing them on the Arch computer/transferring them via external media, or uploading them over the web. A3: Use Samba. It will let you see your Linux computer on your Windows workgroup, and even create shares from any directory on your Arch computer. I will be covering how to use Samba in a follow-up to this video that I will post sometime soon. Q4: I want to put my site online, and I have a router and/or modem that doesn't support port forwarding. A4: You're fucked. Your only option is to go buy a new one/ask for a new one from your ISP that supports it. You are also in the minority since very few routers don't allow port forwarding. Q5: I want to put my site online, but my ISP doesn't allow it. A5: You're fucked. Your only option is to get a new Internet provider. Q6: I am certain I have port forwarded correctly, but NO ports can be seen by canyouseeme.org and nobody can access my site over the Internet. A6: There are two possible problems/solutions: 1 - You have not set a static LAN IP or have not entered the correct one. See tutorials on the internet for doing this. 2 - Your router/modem sucks. Check your firewall settings - if your router/modem has a DMZ feature, enable this as a last resort. It grants access to any program on your computer through the firewall that can accept inbound connections. Q7: People could see my site/Canyouseeme verified my site working a few hours/days/weeks/months ago but now it doesn't work. A7: You have not set a static LAN IP or somebody has removed it on you. If you did not set one then your LAN IP changed, and your router/modem is still forwarding connections to the old one which is probably now nonexistent.
