Do you need Unity? My Mint 'not so Classic' desktop
Ubuntu 11.04 shows off with its UNITY desktop. Is it for e-slabs and netbooks only? I simulated Unity for mouse and keyboard machines, using MINT 10 JULIA as a basis. Having extended Compiz you can achieve the Unity feeling, however with all flexibility of Linux Mint, Gnome 2 interface and some panel manipulations. THIS VIDEO shows what my Mint desktop looks like. It also shows some aspects and perhaps 'hints' as to improve your dealing with this set-up as well. It also shows how to play with Mint Menu, Nautilus, using their lesser known features, Ubuntu Tweak and Compiz settings are shown and demonstrated.
