Windows XP vs Linux Ubuntu: Startup Time
This is a video to show the extreme difference between the startup times of XP and Linux Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) What I was going to say at the end before someone walked in was, "I use Linux for all my in class work because it has such a speedy startup time. If I were to use windows I would never be able to take notes with my laptop and therefore would have not use for it." Comparación de inicios Windows/Mac/Linux
Archlinux / Windows XP están en un disco de Fujitsu 60Gb, los primeros 40 para Xp y lo demás para arch, el otro disco WD tiene las particiones de Linux Mint/Windows 7, 40GB para W7 y lo demás para linux, OSX se instaló en todo el disco WD (no funcionó el wireless ni la función de sleep/suspender). Los discos son similares, 5400rpm, SATA 150, 80 (WD) y 60 (Fujitsu). Los sistemas operativos tienen instalaciones normales (Windows con antivirus, drivers y service pack recientes, Linux con demonios comunes como fam, networkmanager, hal, gdm.. etc.) la excepción es OSX (iDeneb 10.5.8) ya que es śolo el sistema base, aparte de que no tiene drivers para el adaptador inalámbrico, bluetooth, Suspender, modem y firewire. Resultados (Sistema/Duración de inicio en segundos): OSX 39 Arch + LXDE 47 Arch + Gnome 61 XP Pro x32 61 Mint 7 x32 65 Windows 7 Pro x32 75
