Retro Review: PowerBook 160 from 1992

The PowerBook 160 was Apple's second generation at laptops. This computer revolutionized the way we compute today. Running Mac OS 7.1 with a greyscale display, this thing is old tech now, but was was it like back in 1992? I picked this up for about $40 including shipping off of eBay. They're kinda a hit or miss, so if you want one, keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for watching! Troubleshooting: How to Get a Valid IP Address When Using a Shared .vdi Hard Drive File

I often share .vdi files (virtual hard drive files) with my students for numerous reasons. I have found that when I share these files my students are not able to obtain a valid IP address. This is because the MAC address of the machine that created the .vdi file is different from the MAC address of the machine running the .vdi file. A quick reset of the 70-persistent-net.rules and everything quickly gets fixed. In this troubleshooting tutorial I show how to quickly fix this problem.

Troubleshooting: How to Use apt-get and wget Behind A Proxy Server

In this video I demonstrate how to configure your Linux (in my case Ubuntu Server) Box so that wget and apt-get work when/if you are behind a proxy server. This is probably not a common occurrence for most people, but anyone behind a proxy server knows how difficult things can often be. We use a proxy server at the school I teach at to monitor traffic, so I made this video specifically for my students. The proxy used at my school is 10.4.0.253 port 8080, and throughout the video I use these proxy numbers. Just plug in your proxy IP address and port # where I have and hopefully this fix should work for you as well. Apt-get and wget are the most common was of downloading to your machine so getting them to work is extremely important. Hopefully this tutorial helps.
