Hacking a SonicWall 1440i

Booted a SonicWall device with a Gentoo Install CD, mounted the partitions appropriately and entered the SonicWall environment and was able to sort of get the SonicWall software to run under Gentoo. Why did we do this? Because this backup device contains a backup of a server that crashed today. However, this backup device won't turn on anymore, it crashes while it's booting up. So, I figured I'd skip the boot by loading a gentoo kernel from their install CD and then just configuring it to look like the debian environment that is normally running the SonicWall. What this means: sure, we didn't get postgresql to work, but it has nothing to do with my methods. Turns out the hard drive had gone bad and corrupted the PostgreSQL data file. Anyways, don't be surprised if I reverse engineer this and release a video showing you how to steal the SonicWall software and implement it on a $200 linux box instead of $2000 SonicWall hardware.
