Why (Ubuntu) Linux Doesn't Have Viruses, concerning web-Phishing.
Rating: 0.0/5 (0 vote cast)
I finally understood Commodore256's point, was that noobs surfing the web can get to a page that claims they have viruses on their machine. I've seen these too, and usually the bogus requester that tells them this uses a recognizeable Windows frame to make it seem valid. However on Ubuntu, there is no single recognizeable window context theme, so it is hard to phish a Ubuntu user because the Phish would have to know what window manager and theme the Ubuntu user is using. Windows could avoid this problem as well by permitting Windows to have many kinds of window managers and themes.. Also since Ubuntu released every 6 months, there is a chance that every release will have a different "look". So phishing would not be effective across all Ubuntu users. It's because of Windows inability to be completely customized that Windows users are vulnerable to web-Phish.. I bet you never thought tha theming and customization could protect you from viruses :)
