****WARNING**** I hope everyone reads this! If you install the CL14 (swupgrade) tool, reboot your computer, and you do NOT delete the M900 tar that's located in this folder, C:Program FilesSamsung ElectronicsSWUpgradeModelsBinary, you WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE. People keep not following directions and flashing the M900 tar to there M920. After you install the SWUpgrade tool and reboot, immediately delete that M900 tar in the binary folder. That is the ONLY way I know of that will brick your phone and people keep doing that! If you have a 64 bit computer, it's in your 2nd (x86) programs folder.
People like locknn911 keep having trouble with SWUpgrade not detecting their phone. This has EASILY solved HUNDREDS (if NOT MORE) people's problems! Uninstall ALL Samsung usb drivers and then download and install the newest drivers from this link - http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SPH-M920ZKASPR
CL14 (SWUpgrade) - http://www.fileserve.com/file/Y4CAg7S
For the Android 2.1 kernel_recovery.tar, http://www.fileserve.com/file/56qdNpJ
For the Android 2.2.2 kernel_recovery.tar, http://www.fileserve.com/file/Q6EGq8G
That's for the people that want there phone the way it is now, and just want to add root for apps like Wifi Tether 3.0, Titanium Backup Pro, Quick Boot, and more! It's the same process as this video, just download the kernel_recovery.tar and put that in the C:Program FilesSamsung ElectronicsSWUpgradeModelsBinary folder BY ITSELF and put that SPH-M920_MR1_DI11A_REL_skeet_recovery.tar ROM in a safe place, just in case you get stuck in a boot loop or skip a step and your phone no longer boots.
For a CLEARLY LAID OUT, Step By Step Guide, and If you simply want to root your phone and leave it the way it is now, except for the edition of a rooted kernel that supports wifi tether and custom recovery, click this link - http://goo.gl/CY91F
Once rooted with a custom kernel, you can visit this link, http://goo.gl/Ss01u and download the newest version of WiFi Tether for Root Users. Version 3.1 works great!
To download the stock tar with custom recovery (saves you the trouble of flashing stock and then flashing custom recovery) visit this link, http://www.fileserve.com/file/YVWBtE9
It basically saves you from flashing your phone a 2nd time just to have recovery.
That's the file that I personally use and it stays in my C:Program FilesSamsung ElectronicsSWUpgradeModelsBinary folder at all times! That should be the ONLY file in that folder or you will mess up your phone!
Once you do that, download the newest wifi tether, https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list (you can just download it from the market!)
This video also applys to the samsung moment m900. I had the video finished a while back, but after like 15 to 20 failures, I gave up and was never able to upload it because it wouldn't finish. This process is the same EXACT thing as the moment, but you need different .tar files and .zips. Same website, same everything. Thanks!
